This being President's Day, I thought you might find interesting this article from February 12's Honolulu Advertiser. It talks about a personal letter sent to King Kamehameha V from Abraham Lincoln on the death of Kamehameha's younger brother, Kamehameha IV. The letter now resides in the Hawaii state archives.
I don't know about you, but my history lessons never included anything about Hawaii prior to statehood, so I always find these types of stories to be revelations.
