How Big Is Your TV?

Aloha Kakou: Hotel room televisions are getting larger as price and energy consumption both drop. Many properties are now converting their sets to 37 inches. http://www.buyerinteractive.com/buyer/article.aspx?articleid=20320

Home Design Trends Migrating To Hotels

Aloha Kakou:

While not all of the design ideas in this article will work for Outrigger Maui Eldorado owners and guests (the bathtub in the bedroom idea, in particular!), this article has some interesting comments about guest preferences and trends in hotel rooms.

But I really like this quote: Manitoba Hotel Association president and CEO Jim Baker said keeping up on design is often a matter of survival. "Hotels have to invest in their future... or they'll be out of business," he said. "It's all about being inviting (to travellers)."

New Look For Another Budget Property

Aloha Kakou:

Sleep Inn, a member of the Choice family of hotels, has unveiled the new look for their guestrooms.

The new rooms include flat screen televisions (of course!), spa-like bathrooms and warm, natural finishes.

Is it any wonder guests staying with us are asking for upgraded rooms when they can get fresh new accommodations at many budget chain properties on the Mainland?

Quotes of Note

Aloha Kakou:

Here are a few quotes worth considering from an article by property technology consultant John Inge in the Spring, 2010 issue of Hospitality Upgrade:

"With guests' easy access to other travelers' instant comments on sub-par experiences, an increased, steady level of investment in hotel facilities has become essential to keeping those comments positive."

"Given the massive adoption of flat-panel screens in homes, the presence of a CRT display in a hotel guestroom can only be an immediate disappointment even before it's switched on, and hotel that fail to implement flat-panel displays will find it much harder to generate repeat business."

The words of a professional! An upgrade to flat panel televisions will help to instantly update your unit. Let us know how we can help you to achieve that upgrade.

And The Reason You Don't Have A Flat Screen Is...?

Aloha Kakou:

One of my favorite comments recently came from a guest who gave low marks to their unit because there wasn't a single flat screen TV in the place!

Never mind paint, upholstery and carpet; their idea of a modern unit hinged completely on the vintage and type of television!

Have I ever mentioned that guests expect their vacation rental experience to be equal to or better than their home?

Just some food for thought...
