Kekaa Finally Finished

Paving work on Kekaa Drive was finally finished today. The paving company completed the spur between the highway and Kekaa Drive. It took them all day to finish the job but now, except for the striping, the roadwork, which had begun with the replacement of the force main, is complete.

Maui Paving, hired by KOA, is repaving the entire stretch of Kekaa Drive between the Outrigger Maui Eldorado's driveway and Kaanapali Parkway. The work crew today has been laying the asphalt in 3 strips to cover the width of the roadway. Fortunately, most guests are out enjoying Maui during the day while the paving crew is working and we have had no complaints about this activity.

It looks as though the Kaanapali Operator's Association has decided to pave all of Kekaa Dr. The remaining three fourths of the road between the Outrigger Maui Eldorado's driveway and Kaanapali Parkway was rotomilled today and hopefully paving work will be scheduled for tomorrow.

This morning, the crew from Maui Paving was on hand to repair the street where it had been opened to replace the force main. First they rotomilled, then tarred, then finally the black ribbon of asphalt was placed. Maybe tomorrow they do the little section between the highway and Kekaa - they left all of their toys in the parking lot across the street.
