August Spending, Occupancy Up

Aloha Kakou:

Maui saw 10.1% more visitors this August than in August, 2009.

Visitor spending increased a whopping 29.6% during the month compared to last year.

We still have a long way to go before we get back to pre-2008 levels; however, after six straight months of growth in visitor spending, businesses throughout the state are encouraged by the improvements in the visitor industry," said State Tourism Liaison Marsha Wienert.
